Strategic Command Center
(8001.16)
The Strategic Command Center (8001.16) is a play set made out of the Equipment Case molded in silver. While this may sound like a lame accessory, it is actually a very creative set. It is designed so that Super Joe can set up an intelligence center anywhere he needs to, and when he is done, it can be easily packed up and moved to a new surveillance site. The interior of the Command Center contains cardboard inserts designed with simulated high tech computer equipment (1970’s high tech that is), and comes with an external cardboard floor to connect the Command Center top and bottom. The top part of the bottom insert features a Security Phase Unit with a rotating disc that Super Joe can run through the various security phases (Normal, Code, Lock, and Scan). Additionally, there is a separate cardboard Code Activation Terminal connected to the floor and a radar scanner (the radar dish from the 12 inch Trouble Shooter) that attaches to the top of the Command Center. The set also includes a pair of head phones that Super Joe can inset into the code activation terminal. This set is very thematically similar to the 12 inch Adventure Team Headquarters set. While this set may not have stood up to a lot of play wear, it certainly does make a nice display piece. Accordingly, Strategic Command Centers with all of their cardboard inserts can be difficult to find today. This set was a Sears exclusive.
