Figures
The Super Joe line consists of eight different figures. Six of them are “good guy” members of the Super Joe Adventure Team , four of which are human, two are non-human and two are “bad guys”, one non-human and one half human.
The basic Super Joe figure is molded in the same plastic as the muscle body Adventure Team figures and unfortunately has the same rubber joints. Sadly, that rubber has degraded over time and as a result all Super Joe figures even the ones still in their original packages, are found in pieces. Their hands were made out of the same rubber as the joints and thus do not survive the test of time.
A new feature found on Super Joe is the “1-2 Punch”. When you press one of two panels on Super Joe’s back, his right or left arm swings up in a punching motion, great for knocking out bad guys. The “1-2 Punch” feature is only available on the human Super Joe figures.
There are two basic head sculpts for the human Super Joe figures. The first is black hair and beard for the Super Joe Commander. The second is black hair and stylish 1970’s sideburns, but no beard for the Black Super Joe Commander, and both the white and black Super Joe Adventurers. All of the heads have the traditional GI Joe scar on their right cheek. Some early sales promotional materials show the Super Joe Commander with a head sculpt resembling a shrunk down Adventure Team Commander head, but this was changed before the final production to give Super Joe his own identity.

With the permission of and special thanks to the Super Joe fan who owns these, we present the proposal artwork for the Super Joe line. These were done by legendary comic book artist Nick Cardy. Note the different look for GOR and the blue jumpsuits for the Super Joe Commander and Super Joe.
Here is a Hasbro promotional drawing of a Super Joe store display. The display featured flashing lights and a moving arm on the Super Joe Commander for "flying fists". Also each display had special 50 cent refund certificates on the initial purchase of any adventure team member.
