1977 Super Joe Promotional Display
In 1977, Hasbro made an animated promotional display with a consumer rebate, available to retailers selling the new Super Joe line. The display utilizes the same artwork of the Super Joe Commander punching Gor that is featured in the Super Joe Adventure Team Club fold out poster. The display is made of thick cardboard and features a functional red light for Gor's chest and a white light for the Super Joe Commander's power vest. The Commander's is a separate piece and is animated so that it moves in a circle simulating the 1-2 punch to Gor. When the Commander's hand 'makes contact' with Gor, his light is briefly extinguished, and the process begins again.
The display also includes a pad of coupons, allowing kids to mail in a proof of purchase and receive a 50-cent rebate.
Pictured below is a Super Joe promotional display we are in the process of restoring. The Commander's arm, the electronics and the rebate coupons are missing.

A different, non-animated display featuring Darkon and an "As Seen on TV" blurb was available for 1978.
